Prime Minister, Bisher Khasawneh patronized on Saturday attended the University of Jordan (UJ)'s Honorary Professors Forum, organized by the UJ on the occasion of the silver jubilee of His Majesty King Abdullah II's assumption of his constitutional powers. The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) have appointed renowned Jordanian professor Omar Hatamleh as the First Executive for Artificial Intelligence (AI) at NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center.
Professor Hatamleh, previously the Deputy Chief Scientist at NASA, was responsible for identifying new and promising areas of scientific research. UJ President Inaugurates 9th E- Learning Conference |
The University of Jordan (UJ) President, Prof. Nathir Obeidat, has urged for governance over Artificial Intelligence (AI), stressing its potential impact on education and the labor market. Speaking at the opening of the 9th season of the E-Learning Conference, themed "Artificial Intelligence and Educational Change: Inevitable Changes, Realistic Implications," Obeidat emphasized the need for Jordanian universities to produce graduates equipped for the local and global job markets.
Obeidat highlighted the university's efforts to develop relevant programs that prepare students for leadership roles in a rapidly evolving world, emphasizing the importance of embracing technological advancements while preserving cultural values and principles.
He called for educational institutions to take courageous steps towards real transformation and enhancement of sustainability and innovation. Obeidat emphasized the necessity of creating new governance models to foster innovative partnerships with civil society and the private sector, led by a generation capable of utilizing new technologies, including AI, responsibly. |
| UJ Concludes Participation in Jordan-Kurdistan Higher Education Forum, Signs Several MoUs with Kurdish Universities |
The University of Jordan (UJ) president signed several academic and scientific memoranda of understanding with counterpart universities in the Duhok Governorate in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq.
The MoUs are the result of the success of the Jordanian-Kurdistan Higher Education Forum organized by the Jordanian Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, in coordination with the Jordan Tourism Board, and in cooperation with the Kurdistan Ministry of Higher Education.
The cooperation memoranda include establishing joint scientific and research projects, conducting various programs, exchanging experiences and knowledge between the Jordanian and Kurdish sides, exchanging faculty members, supporting student exchange efforts, as well as organizing joint scientific conferences and seminars.
In his speech delivered on behalf of the Jordanian delegation after the signing ceremony of the agreements Obeidat said that Jordanian universities aspire with all their strength to be in partnership with their Kurdish counterparts.
On their part, the presidents of universities in Duhok expressed their pleasure to establish scientific and academic relationships with UJ, given its distinguished reputation and achievements on the scales of international rankings.
