My journey from a nursing diploma to a PhD has been a path of determination, growth, and a deep passion for advancing healthcare. It began with earning my Nursing Diploma from the Intermediate University College, where I first stepped into the world of professional nursing. This foundation opened the door to my role as a practical nurse in the surgical ward at Prince Hamzah Hospital, where I gained hands-on experience, developed strong clinical skills, and learned the importance of teamwork in delivering quality patient care.
Motivated to deepen my knowledge and expand my opportunities, I pursued a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing Science at the Hashemite University. This academic step enhanced my understanding of complex nursing concepts and prepared me to handle greater responsibilities in the clinical setting. My career advanced as I took on the role of a registered nurse in the surgical ward, providing care in high-acuity environments and responding to diverse patient needs.
Driven by my interest in mental health, I pursued a Master’s degree in Psychiatric and Mental Health Nursing at the Hashemite University. This specialization allowed me to integrate clinical expertise with advanced therapeutic approaches, enriching my capacity to care for patients with complex psychological and emotional needs. Alongside my studies, I continued my clinical journey, including working in the COVID-19 isolation unit during the pandemic—a challenging yet defining moment that tested my resilience, adaptability, and leadership under crisis.
My pursuit of excellence led me to complete my PhD in Psychiatric and Mental Health Nursing at the University of Jordan. My doctoral research focused on adherence therapy among patients with major depressive disorder, combining evidence-based interventions with practical application to improve patient outcomes. This academic achievement was not just a milestone but the culmination of years of balancing intensive clinical work with rigorous study.
Recognizing the growing importance of interdisciplinary knowledge in mental health, I pursued a second Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology at Al-Ahliyya Amman University. This expanded my research scope to include psychological constructs such as irrational beliefs, cyberchondria, and mental well-being, allowing me to bridge nursing science with clinical psychology to develop holistic approaches to patient care.
My academic career at Zarqa University has been marked by continuous progress in leadership and scholarly engagement. I began as an Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Nursing, where I contributed to course development, research supervision, and student mentorship. I was then appointed Assistant Dean for Quality Affairs, leading initiatives to enhance academic standards, accreditation readiness, and program evaluation. In 2024, I advanced to Vice Dean of the Faculty of Nursing, overseeing academic, administrative, and strategic operations, fostering research collaboration, and promoting faculty development.
Over the years, I have published extensively in indexed, peer-reviewed journals, contributing to the advancement of nursing science and mental health research. My publications span high-impact topics including emotional intelligence, nurse empowerment, quality of care, leadership, mental well-being, and clinical education. These works have been indexed in major scientific databases such as Scopus, Web of Science, and PubMed, ensuring their visibility and contribution to global scholarly discourse.
I have also been an active speaker and presenter at numerous national and international conferences, including serving as Session Chair at the First International Nursing Conference and delivering presentations at events focused on nursing leadership, mental health, healthcare quality, and interdisciplinary collaboration. These engagements have allowed me to share research findings, exchange best practices, and expand academic networks.
My professional influence extends through memberships in respected organizations such as the Jordanian Nursing Council, Sigma Theta Tau International (Psi Kappa Chapter), and various scientific and professional committees within healthcare and academia.
At Zarqa University, I have contributed significantly through my roles in committees, serving as Chair, Rapporteur, and active member in the Accreditation and Quality Assurance Committee, Study Plan and Guidance Committee, Students’ Issues and Alumni Follow-Up Committee, and the Scientific Research and Creativity Committee. My work in these committees has been instrumental in enhancing academic quality, aligning programs with accreditation standards, and improving student experiences.
This journey—from my first days as a diploma nurse to my current role as Vice Dean—reflects a steady progression of clinical expertise, academic achievement, leadership responsibility, and scholarly contribution. It is driven by a commitment to advancing nursing education, improving healthcare outcomes, and inspiring the next generation of healthcare professionals.
