​Formerly, he served as a professor of Arabic language and specialized in Andalusian literature. He held the position of Minister of Culture, as well as previously serving as the Secretary-General of the Jordanian Ministry of Culture for several years until 2002. Subsequently, he became the Deputy President of the University of Jordan.
