​He obtained a Bachelor of Medicine and General Surgery from the University of Jordan in 1982, and a Master's degree in Pediatrics from the same university in 1986. Additionally, he obtained the Jordanian Medical Council certificate in 1986 and the Fellowship of the Royal College of Ireland in 1990.

He served as the General Manager of King Abdullah University Hospital in 2004. During the same period, he was also the Vice President of the Jordan University of Science and Technology. Additionally, he headed the Pediatrics Department at the same university. He was appointed as the Minister of Health.
